Breast augmentation recovery

Breast augmentation is one of the most commonly performed procedures in the cosmetic surgery world. In this procedure a small incision is placed in different access areas around the breast, after which the implant is placed either above or below the muscle. In general, the patient has minimal or no pain after this procedure. Complaints are mostly feeling pressure around the breasts. Typically, the patient needs to rest for at least two to three days. Breast massages are important for the recovery process, especially during the first few months after the surgery. Patients should completely recover after a week. Exercise can be performed after three weeks and heavy lifting after one month. It is important to note that there will be some swelling and bruising. Taking arnica is recommended before and after surgery to reduce the swelling. After surgery, the breasts should settle in about a month. Recovery after breast augmentation is not as difficult as one might think as it is one of the surgeries that does not require long periods of rest. As a matter of fact, most patients can have surgery on Friday and get back to work on a Monday.
