After the tummy tuck procedure, you’ll have a flatter and tighter tummy. However, the result is not permanent, as I tell every patient during an initial consultation. The patient’s discipline and type of living will greatly affect the result of the intervention. That’s why having a tailored eating regimen after the procedure is mostly advised by the surgeons.

Most of the time, I advise my patient to take plenty of fluids and protein-filled foods especially during the recovery period. These supplements will help you have a speedy recovery and return your body into its normal function. You might also notice a difference in your appetite but it will soon go back to normal. Your body will soon adapt to the changes and then recover from the side effects of your pain medications.

Also, you must keep in mind to avoid consuming foods that have more calories than you expend. Foods with calories help you accumulate fats in a short period of time. However, I cannot calculate your personal metabolism. Patients have different genetics and hormonal levels. You must also consider consuming foods with the right timing.

Keep in mind that you can still gain weight after a tummy tuck or even after liposuction. If you want to maintain the result of the intervention, then you must start focusing yourself on having healthy eating habits. The eating regimen after the surgery doesn’t mean that you have to deprive yourself from eating your favorite foods. You just have to limit yourself on consuming them, especially those processed foods and takeout. I strongly advised you put in your list a variety of whole foods such as fruits, vegetables and protein. You can incorporate these foods in your daily meal to provide your body the fuel it needs for your day to day routine.
