Breast implant buttock

The use of implants is popular in the cosmetic industry as it usually provides the size that most patients want to achieve. Whether it is a breast augmentation procedure or a buttock augmentation, it is important to know first the risks and misconceptions that are associated with the available implants in the market today.

In my years of practice, I often hear my patients express concern regarding the safety of having implants. A stigma is often associated with implants as they are widely thought to cause complications. However, buttock implants are just as safe as breast implants.

One of the fundamental issues we have in the United States is that the silicone buttock implants we use are very different than the silicone breast implants. Breast implants are filled with highly cohesive silicone that gives them a very soft feel, while a buttock implant is made of a solid silicone and tends to feel a little bit more firm.

This is why there are particular implants that approved for buttock augmentation only.  In other countries, they have implants that are softer and provide a buttock that feels more natural. The buttock implants that we have in the United States will feel like you have been exercising; it feels firm. This is one of the reasons that whenever I insert a buttock implant, I inject fat around the implant to provide a better shape, hide the implant edge, and provide the patient with a better result and a more natural feel.

It is always best to listen to your surgeon’s recommendations in order for you to achieve a great result while keeping yourself safe from harm and complications. The surgeon will assess your anatomical condition first and will recommend you the best type and size of implants that will best serve what you want to achieve.
