Can I still have a prebaby tummy tuck

It is undeniable that a baby is a blessing to a family. Most think that having a baby is the essence of being a woman. However, there are mommies who suffer the long-term effects of pregnancy on the abdomen following the birth of one or more children. Fortunately, abdominoplasty is here to help them improve the sagginess and tighten the muscles in their midsection.

However, if you are thinking that you can still have a pre-baby tummy after the intervention, the answer is no. Aside from the damage sustained during pregnancy, there is the weight gain. The surgery can help you eliminate loose skin in the abdominal area, tightens the tummy, and contours your stomach to a more youthful shape, but not the same as you had before the pregnancy. It is important that you know the limits of a tummy tuck surgery.

Moreover, I always advise my patients to undergo the tummy tuck after having children and only when you have no plan of getting pregnant again.  The tummy tuck procedure can make your abdomen look shapelier, firmer, and youthful. Now if you get pregnant, it will make your abdomen saggy again. You will be required to go for a revision surgery to restore the aesthetic flaws introduced in your abdomen by pregnancy after the tummy tuck.

One more important advice, make sure to wait for at least six months after pregnancy to undergo the tummy tuck. If you are breastfeeding your child, you should undergo the procedure a few months after stopping breastfeeding. This is to make sure your body’s natural contour becomes completely stable, and the medications used during the surgery do not affect your baby.

As always, it is important that you understand what your surgeon can give you and what the surgery can bring. This is to ensure that you will be satisfied with the result and not the other way around.
