Liposuction complication

Liposuction is a famous surgical procedure that uses a hollow cannula that is connected to a suction machine. It will then be inserted under the skin to extract the unwanted fat. But even if liposuction is one of the most performed cosmetic surgeries of today and almost considered as harmless, the recovery period from the intervention is yet another issue.

During the recovery period, you will experience after surgery effects such as inflammation, fluid collection, and swelling. These conditions are considered normal. However, you need to be patient and well disciplined for quite a long time so as to heal normally. Although you can return to your usual chores or work after a few days, you would still have to wait for a month or so in order to see results.

Liposuction intervention can be compared to a trauma. In this condition, you are not able to see the soft tissue injury secondary to the suction of the fat and the back and forth movement of the cannula. However, it is there. There is also the leakage of fluid at the liposuction site. It is triggered when inflammation occurs in the surrounding tissues of the abdomen. This causes the capillaries of the abdomen to release local hormones.

There are other factors that prolong the inflammation such as the bleeding from broken vessels at the surgical site. The injuries of the soft tissue can also cause swelling of the surgical area. These aspects need time to heal that is why patients are being told that they can only see the results of the intervention taking effect after six to nine months.

During the months after your surgery, you may notice that your body feels firm or lumpy and bumpy most of the time, but a lot of these symptoms will resolve over time especially if you know what to do under these circumstances.
