Will my breast look fake after breast augmentation?

In my years of practice as a plastic surgeon, I often encounter patients who come to the clinic without any idea about the breast augmentation procedure. One of the top questions that they ask me is if their breasts will look fake after the surgery. They want a direct answer. However, I take my time explaining to them that the answer depends on a variety of factors.

During the initial consultation, the surgeon will discuss the importance of choosing the size and type of implants that will be used to enhance your breasts. When we are talking about the breast volume, the bigger the implant regardless of the profile that you use, the more unnatural your breast is going to look.  That’s why it is of utmost importance that you understand how much breast tissue you have before you choose the type, profile, and volume of the implant that will be used.

Let us put it this way. If you are a B cup and you want to achieve a D cup, it won’t matter if you use a profile that is moderate or high profile, your implant will tend to look high and unnatural. It doesn’t mean that your breasts will look disgusting, only that the enhancement would be highly noticeable. You must understand that the dynamics between the breast tissue and the implant depends on your anatomy.

The implant profile is also another factor that can make your breast look fake. If you choose an implant with a much bigger profile than what your anatomy requires, the more will the implants stick out. It means that your breasts will look less natural.

When you come to the clinic, we can discuss all these factors one by one and choose the most appropriate implant for you so that you will definitely be happy with the results.
