Are there other methods to correct saggy buttocks aside from surgery?

30th Sep 2021

Nowadays people are interested in achieving good aesthetic results with minimally invasive plastic surgery procedures or no surgery at all. In some cases, there are things such as massages, diets and physical exercises that can help in correcting certain imperfections of the body such as an excess of fat. But in a vast majority of cases, there is little to be done aside from undergoing surgery.

People with saggy buttocks ask if there are other methods to correct this imperfection aside from surgery. Unfortunately, the answer is no. However, the good news is that there are two procedures that can be used to fix saggy buttocks. One is the Brazilian butt lift, and the other is the classic butt lift. The procedures are very different and follow a completely different surgical plan. One is less invasive than the other, and the recommendation for one or the other comes from the plastic surgeon during the pre-operative consultation.

During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will assess the condition of the buttocks and also ask about your goals and expectations from the surgery. The butt lift is often recommended for patients who have suffered massive weight loss in a short period of time and are left with saggy skin on the buttocks. For these patients, the optimal procedure might be the excision of the skin excess from the buttocks.

In some cases, the butt lift can be recommended to be performed with butt implant surgery, if the patient wants to achieve an improvement in the size of the butt as well. The butt lift entails significant incisions that are required to detach the skin from the muscles and the fat tissue. The skin is then re-draped over the tissues of the buttocks and the excess is eliminated.

The classic butt lift is a more invasive procedure compared to the Brazilian butt lift. The Brazilian butt lift is actually a combination of liposuction with fat transfer to the buttocks and only entails small incisions on both the donor areas and the buttocks. When the BBL is performed, the surgeon will remove fat from areas where it is in excess, purify it, and transfer it to the buttocks. By adding fat, we can correct minor butt sagginess. However, if there are skin folds sagging on the buttocks, the optimal procedure will be the classic butt lift.

Also, keep in mind that there is a limited amount of fat that we can transfer to the butt. The limitation is first due to the fact that there is a maximum amount of fat that can be extracted with liposuction. This is six or seven liters of fat. After the fat is processed, we are often left with no more than two liters of fat that can be injected into the buttocks.
