Breast augmentation and lipo

Combining plastic surgery procedures has become more and more common nowadays with the advancement of methods and anesthesia techniques. Many patients choose to undergo two or more procedures at the same time to only undergo one general anesthesia and not multiple ones. At the same time, the recovery period is shorter than if the procedures would have been performed in different sessions.

Liposuction and breast augmentation are the two most performed plastic surgery interventions on the body on a global level. This means that every day, people from all over the world undergo one procedure or the other and sometimes both interventions in one sitting.

The benefits of undergoing a breast augmentation and lipo in the same sitting are numerous, and in this article, we will discuss them and also what the intervention entails.

Breast augmentation

As you probably already know, breast augmentation can be performed in two ways: either by making use of silicone implants or by grafting fat harvested from other areas of your body. The procedure is recommended for people with small breasts or for women who have suffered an atrophy of breast tissue due to aging, multiple pregnancies, or considerable weight loss. At the same time, the procedure is a good solution for women who have moderate breasts but want to get better curves and a more alluring profile.

To be eligible for the procedure, the patient should be in good physical and emotional condition. Also, having realistic expectations from the surgery is essential for the success of your intervention. For example, hoping to get from an A bra cup to an E bra cup in one session is not realistic, nor should it be your goal.

Breast augmentation is often performed under general anesthesia for the comfort of the patient. This means the patient will be asleep during surgery and she will feel no discomfort or pain during the operation.

The breast augmentation procedure usually lasts no longer than an hour and a half, and because of the short operative time, we can combine it with other interventions such as the tummy tuck or lipo.

Liposuction can be performed on practically any part of the body with the purpose to eliminate unwanted fat deposits. The procedure is recommended for people who have a normal weight that has been stable for at least six to eight weeks. This means that liposuction should not be used as a weight loss method as the results might be disappointing. A responsible plastic surgeon will not remove more than six to seven liters of fat in one liposuction session, so weight loss is negligible for an overweight or obese patient but it can be a complete change of shape if the patient is of a normal weight.

With liposuction, we aim to improve contours and to create definition. For example, the abdominal area is commonly targeted with liposuction as this is a region where fat tends to accumulate with age. Other areas of the body that can be treated with lipo are the face, the neck, the back and even the calves and knees.

Liposuction can be performed under local or general anesthesia, but when used in combination with other procedures, general anesthesia is preferred for the reasons we have mentioned earlier.

With lipo we can enhance the results of an another intervention: buttock enhancement, breast augmentation, and tummy tuck, among others. We can also change the contours of the body to improve the silhouette aspect.

Liposuction is a safe procedure; however, you should always choose an experienced and board-certified plastic surgeon to play out your intervention as the risks are much reduced this way.

Breast augmentation and lipo

When a fat transfer is the method used for breast augmentation, liposuction is an intrinsic part of the procedure which can’t be performed without it. For this, the plastic surgeon will collect fat from areas of the body with an excess of adipose tissue, purify the fat and then re-inject it in the breasts to achieve a better shape, more fullness, and a small increase in size.

When breast augmentation is performed with the help of implants, liposuction can be performed on the areas where the bra band goes, under the breasts, and on the abdomen. This way, the results of the augmentation will be more impressive as the breasts will look bigger compared to the surrounding areas of the body which will be smaller.

When having a breast augmentation with implants, you can also ask the plastic surgeon to correct any area of the body where there is an excess of adipose tissue. Because both breast augmentation and lipo take less than an hour and a half each, there is enough time to perform them combination without the risks associated with a long operative time under general anesthesia.

Combining these procedures in one operative sitting can provide spectacular results, especially if your plastic surgeon has a good eye for detail and aesthetics of the body. Creating beautiful and alluring curves is important when it comes to a successful plastic surgery intervention.

Many women nowadays choose to combine the breast augmentation procedure with liposuction in different areas of the body.

When it comes to breast augmentation with fat transfer, liposuction is the first stage of the intervention, and the procedure can’t be done without the collection of fat through lipo. But liposuction can be successfully combined with breast augmentation with implants as well.

When combining procedures, we reduce the recovery period, go through general anesthesia just once instead of multiple times, and the costs of combined procedures are also reduced compared to having to pay for each intervention separately.
