How a breast reduction can improve your sports performance

27th Oct 2017

Even though having large breasts may be the ideal of many women, there is no doubt that very large breasts come with a number of disadvantages, particularly if you are physically active. Large breasts can limit your physical activities.

If you are into sports, large breasts will negatively affect your performance. For instance, large breasts can get in your way if you are running or doing vigorous physical activities. Fortunately, there is a plastic surgery procedure called breast reduction that can decrease the size of your breasts, enhancing your sports performance.

Large breasts mean extra weight. According to one study, a normal A-cup breast has a weight of half a pound. As you add an extra cup size, it translates into the addition of 0.5 pounds to your weight. For every cup size you add, your weight will increase by half a pound. While this may not seem substantial to many women, for professional sports players, it means a lot because it directly affects their performance.

Take the case of Romanian tennis player Simona Halep. She used breast reduction to decrease her breast size and weight when she was 18 years old. She decreased her cup size to a 34C from a 34DD. After the procedure, she observed a boost in her performance, winning 6 WTA titles and bagging a number of other prizes and awards.

Secondly, it is hard to find a sports bra that can aptly hold and support large breasts. There are many players who use two sports bras or trap their breasts to overcome the problem. This can be particularly damaging. For example, during the UFC women’s fight, Ronda Rousey tossed her opponent player to the ground and in the split second she adjusted her bra straps, her opponent hit her in the chest. She struggled to avoid a wardrobe malfunction all through the fight. This is where breast reduction can be particularly helpful.

Thirdly, large breasts can be painful and discomforting for many athletes. There is no doubt that women with very large breasts experience neck, back, and shoulder pain. Pain during sports can affect your performance. You would not be able to focus on the game. Instead, your focus will be on the pain you are experiencing. For example, many female runners who participated in the 2012 London Marathon later revealed they experienced pain during the race.

Breast reduction comes with a lot of advantages for sports players. The procedure involves removal of the excess skin, fat, and glandular tissue from the breasts, which not only decreases the size of the breasts but also decreases their weight and removes any physical pain and discomfort associated with larger breasts. These ultimately translate into improved sports performance. The good news is that you will also experience a boost in your self-esteem, which will further enhance your sports performance. On top of that, you will be able to fit well into your clothes.
