Different breast plastic surgery procedures

Breast aesthetic surgery is carried out on both men and women. This procedure allows patients to reshape their breasts that are either too small or too big. Aside from that, it can also be used to remove sagging skin and excessive mammary tissue on the chest area. Breast surgery among women is primarily performed to correct hypoplasia, hypertrophy or breast ptosis.
There are three different type of breast cosmetic procedures for women: breast augmentation, reduction and lift. The breast augmentation surgery involves the insertion of implants into the breasts to give it a more voluminous appearance. It is done under general anesthesia and requires hospitilization for at least 24 hours.
Contrary to breast augmentation, the breast reduction surgery is the intervention that reduces the breast volume to achieve a breast size that is in proportion to the woman’s morphology. The duration of the breast reduction intervention depends on the amount of skin and mammary gland tissue that will be removed. Nevertheless, the patient will also be under general anesthesia and require 24 hours of hospitalization.
On the other hand, a breast lift corrects breast ptosis or the sagginess of the breasts by raising the breasts to a natural, elevated position on the chest area. The factors that affect breast ptosis are loss of skin elasticity due to aging, pregnancy and lactation, excessive weight loss or weight gain, and hormonal fluctuations.
Generally speaking, breast cosmetic surgical procedures are not painful. While you can expect some degree of pain and discomfort as it is still a major surgery, it is acually quite minimal. Nevertheless, you will be prescribed with medication to minimize or manage the pain. Aside from that, there will be some bruising after the surgery, which is completely normal. Do not fret as this will gradually disappear. Normally, the patient should be able to resume her daily activities a few days after the procedure.
