Discussing butt augmentation surgery with your family and friends

Undergoing plastic surgery is easier and more affordable than ever before. This is the reason why more and more people choose plastic surgery to achieve the aesthetic appearance that they want or to correct physical imperfections that have been bothering them for years. Butt augmentation is very in demand nowadays as it allows for a considerable increase in the volume of the buttocks when implants are used. Gluteal implants are external medical prostheses that are safe for the patient and also very durable. The implants don’t need to be removed or replaced during the patient’s lifetime unless a complication occurs, but the incidence rate for this to happen is really small.

With implants, patients can get a considerable increase in the projection of the buttocks as the implants are inserted in a pocket created in the upper part of the butt, inside or under the gluteal muscle. This means that the augmentation only targets this superior part of the butt and does little in terms of reshaping the buttocks as a whole. This is important to understand before scheduling the procedure as otherwise you might be surprised with the results achieved.

Checking before and after photos of patients who had butt augmentation is important before going forward with the surgery. This will give you an idea of realistic expectations and can also help you discuss the issue with your family and friends.

While I always tell my patients that undergoing plastic surgery is a very personal choice and should only be discussed with others at the patient’s convenience, sometimes it can be helpful to discuss plastic surgery with people close to you. After butt augmentation surgery, patients are advised to avoid sitting on the buttocks for a minimum of three weeks and also sleeping on the back. This means that the patient won’t be able to drive for a few weeks or take care of certain chores. To have a smooth and short recovery period, the recommendation is to have someone to drive you home from the clinic after the procedure and also to help you around the house for a few days or a week post-op. This means that you should discuss the issue of butt augmentation before undergoing the procedure.

When discussing this issue of plastic surgery with your close friends or family members, make sure they understand straight from the beginning that you are not asking for their approval but for their help and support during the recovery period. This is very important and can save you a lot of headaches. It is important to have the support of family and friends during the recovery period as this time can be quite difficult for patients undergoing butt augmentation surgery.
