Gynecomastia Or Lipo For a Manlier Chest?

Gynecomastia occurs when a man develops breasts that are large like that of a woman’s. It is an abnormality that occurs because abnormal levels of the female sex hormones are produced in a man’s body due to a variety of reasons. Having gynecomastia can negatively affect the person who has it. Although the growth of the breast tissue is not cancerous, most of those who have them still wish to have them removed.

Gynecomastia can negatively affect a person’s confidence. It can make them very conscious about their body because the breast can be obvious even when they are wearing clothes. This is what leads them to seek for ways to correct the gynecomastia.

Gynecomastia can be corrected in different ways. One is by simply letting it correct on its own. This is especially true when gynecomastia happens during the pubertal stage. There are also medications that doctors can prescribe to normalize and balance the hormones in the body. But if this still doesn’t correct the condition, one can turn to cosmetic surgery to correct it.

There are two procedures that can give a man a flatter chest to correct gynecomastia. These procedures include a breast reduction surgery as well as a liposuction procedure. When trying to decide what surgical procedure to go for to correct gynecomastia, it is important to have a consultation with the surgeon. They are the ones who can help identify what the “man boobs” are made of.

For those who have man boobs because of a large amount of fat, a liposuction procedure can be enough to produce a manlier chest. Although it can work, the amount of fat removed can also be limited because removing too much can cause the presence of sagging skin.

On the other hand, those who have larger breasts due to increased breast tissue, breast reduction surgery would be a better option. In this surgery, the breast tissue will be manually removed along with the glands and the skin.

Both surgical procedures can result in a manlier chest, but recovery from them would vary. Those who only went through liposuction can expect to recover faster as compared to those who went for a breast reduction surgery. The incision made and required for liposuction is just small because the procedure would use a cannula that can be inserted through a small hole. The fat cells pass through the cannula and are removed from the body. Those that had a breast reduction surgery are expected to have a longer recovery because the procedure yields a larger incision. It takes a while for it to heal, but results to a tighter chest appearance.

The selection of the surgical procedure that a patient with gynecomastia will undergo isn’t only made by preference. Careful consideration about what the breast is made of should also be done. This ensures that the right kind of surgery is chosen to make sure that the surgical goals are achieved.
