Is The Brazilian Butt Lift Safer Than Buttock Implant Surgery

20th Nov 2018

Brazilian butt lift and the buttock implant surgery are the two options to enhance your backside. I can perform both procedures and help you achieve your aesthetic goals. During the pre-operative consultation, I will examine your butt, assess your health, and ask questions about your aesthetic goals and expectations. Based on the findings, I will determine whether you are a good candidate for the Brazilian butt lift or butt implant surgery.
Many patients ask me whether the Brazilian butt lift, also known as fat transfer to the butt, is safer than buttock implant surgery. There is no doubt that fat transfer to the buttocks is safer than butt implant surgery. Many factors make the Brazilian butt lift relatively safer. During the Brazilian butt lift, I will extract the excess fat from different areas of your body, process the fat, and then inject it into your butt.
On the other hand, butt implant surgery involves placing prosthetic objects called butt implants into your backside. Since the fat transfer procedure does not involve inserting artificial devices into your butt, it is safer than butt implant surgery. But this doesn’t mean that all patients who get butt implants are exposed to many risks. In my practice, I have performed the butt implant surgery on hundreds of patients without any significant complications.
Your health will also determine whether butt implant surgery will be risky for you. For example, if you have an autoimmune disorder, there is a risk your immune system will react against the butt implant, meaning it will identify it as a foreign object and start attacking it. However, I have seen that this happens rarely.
As butt implant are artificial objects, the patient will be at risk of capsular contracture, which is not the case with the Brazilian butt lift. The good news is that I prefer to use suitably sized implants and place them within or under the gluteal muscle. It helps reduce the risk of capsular contracture. It also helps prevent implant rotation and displacement.
During the Brazilian butt lift, I will not make major incisions on your butt. Instead, I will inject the fat into your butt through a special needle. It plays a critical part in decreasing the risk of infection, bleeding, and scarring.
