Liposuction tips for recovery

The liposuction procedure can improve the aspect of different areas of the body suffering from adipose pockets. Most commonly, liposuction is performed on the abdominal area, hips, thighs, knees and waist.
Here are a few tips on how to prepare for the liposuction procedure:
– If you still have questions about the post-surgical care or details you want to discuss with the plastic surgeon on the intervention date, make sure to prepare a list with all of them.
– Confirm with the plastic surgeon what to expect in terms of recovery after liposuction to be able to arrange days off work and help around the house if needed.
– While there is no particular diet that you need to follow before the intervention, it is recommended to eat balanced meals and make sure you are not on a strict diet that could prolong your recovery time.
– You will need to undergo several blood tests so make sure you do this in time.
– It is preferable to come to the clinic on the surgery day without wearing any nail polish, and you should also remove all piercings from the area targeted with the procedure.
– Have a shower or a bath before coming to the medical facility for your intervention. You can use antibacterial soap.
– Avoid taking aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication two weeks before the procedure is scheduled. If you couldn’t follow this recommendation, it is important to call your surgeon and let him know as your procedure might be rescheduled.
– If your liposuction will be done under general anesthesia, a period of fasting is required for at least six to eight hours before the intervention is performed.
– Make sure to have someone to pick you up from the clinic and drive you home as you might not be able to do it yourself.
Preparing for a liposuction procedure is not difficult, but it is important to make sure to follow the indications of the surgeon as to avoid unnecessary complications during and after the procedure.
