Making the most out of butt augmentation surgery

17th Apr 2019

Patients nowadays are interested in resorting to plastic surgery to increase the size of their buttocks as the procedures are safe and efficient and the augmentation practically happens overnight. Of course, it can take a while for the final results to be visible, and this time depends on the procedure that was performed to add more volume. In case of a butt augmentation with implants, it can take six to nine months for the final results to transpire while in the case of fat grafting, three months can be enough to have an assessment of the results.

However, what is important for patients is to follow the post-operative instructions of the plastic surgeon to make the most out of the procedure. The results of butt augmentation are not the same for all patients undergoing the procedure. They are different depending on the skills and experience of the plastic surgeon, the size and type of butt implants, and the patient’s ability to follow the rules.

To make the most out of your butt augmentation surgery, whether you had implants inserted or fat cells grafted, you need to avoid sleeping on your back or sitting directly on the buttocks for at least three weeks post-op or even longer, depending on the assessment of the plastic surgeon.  It is crucial to follow this instruction to the letter both to ensure good results and to avoid complications. If you sit on your buttocks in the first weeks post-op, the incisions could open, the implants might shift, or the fat grafted might die and be reabsorbed by the body, leaving behind asymmetries.

Postpone resuming exercise and other physically demanding activities for at least two months after the procedure if you want to make the most out of your butt augmentation surgery. You might believe that it is better to resume exercise as soon as possible to look better and more fit, but the reality is that resuming exercise too soon after butt augmentation could actually alter the results achieved.

Avoiding weight fluctuation is another instruction that will help you maximize the results and sustain them for longer. Weight fluctuations have a lesser effect on the results of a butt augmentation with implants, but could really alter the results achieved with a fat transfer. The fat transferred to the buttocks can increase or decrease their volume if the patient puts on or loses weight and this will impact the aesthetics of the buttocks.

Making the most out of a butt augmentation surgery could also mean undergoing the procedure with other plastic surgery procedures. For example, it is common practice to combine butt augmentation with liposuction on the flanks, lower back, and thighs.
