Packing for the hospital for breast augmentation surgery

19th Nov 2018

Breast augmentation surgery is one of the two most desired aesthetic interventions in the world. Year after year, more and more women are undergoing the breast augmentation procedure to get bigger breasts that are rounder and appealing. Increasing the size of the breasts with the help of plastic surgery can be performed in two ways:

1. Breast augmentation with implants: In this case, the patient together with the plastic surgeon will choose between different types of implants and have the implants inserted under the mammary gland or the pectoral muscle. The procedure is safe and usually performed under general anesthesia. The results can be impressive when the right type of implants have been chosen. With the help of implants, a significant increase in the breasts’ cup size can be achieved.

2. Fat transfer to the breasts: Suitable for patients desiring a minor or moderate increase in the size or shape of the breasts, making them look fuller and rounder. To be eligible for the procedure, the patient needs to have a pocket of fat in another area of the body that can be collected and processed during the transfer. The increase in size can be half a cup or a cup, depending on the characteristics of the patient and the amount of fat that can be harvested.

Preparing for breast augmentation surgery is an important step for the success of your intervention. Your plastic surgeon will give you a list of pre-operative instructions and also tell you what you should pack for your stay in the hospital for the surgery.

It is important to mention that in a vast majority of cases, hospitalization is not necessary after breast augmentation surgery. The patient will be allowed to leave the medical facility within a few hours after waking up from the anesthesia.

So, what do you need to pack for the hospital for the breast augmentation procedure? First, we will tell you what you need to leave at home: the fear of getting unsatisfactory results and the fear of pain and discomfort. You need to keep positive, so make sure not to carry these concerns with you to the hospital. Your bag for the hospital shouldn’t be too big, and you need to keep in mind that jewelry, nail polish, contact lenses, makeup, and creams are forbidden in the operative room.

You can bring with you a change of clothes as we advise the patients to put on clean clothes after undergoing surgery. Moreover, you will need to put on a loose button-up shirt or blouse. The main idea is that after breast augmentation surgery, you are not allowed to lift your hands above your shoulders, so putting on a T-shirt is not recommended. Choose a loose item of clothing because your breasts will be bigger and you don’t want to have problems buttoning up and don’t provide freedom of movement.
