The saggy appearance of the butt can be caused by multiple factors. We could be talking about the natural aging process and weight fluctuations, among other things. Usually, it is not just one factor that causes sagginess, but a combination of factors. Generally speaking, after a certain age, the sagginess can be more pronounced as the skin loses elasticity and tonus. The appearance of the buttocks affects our whole body image and even self-esteem. This is the reason why many people nowadays resort to plastic surgery to enhance the appearance of saggy buttocks. Depending on the patient’s anatomy, aesthetic goals and expectations from the surgery, we have two solutions to correct saggy buttocks. First, let’s talk about the less invasive procedure that is called the Brazilian butt lift. This procedure can be performed on patients with flat, saggy buttocks who want an improvement in the appearance of their rear end. The Brazilian butt lift is not a lift per se, but it can create a lifting effect on the butt. The procedure entails the use of liposuction to harvest fat cells from areas where they are in excess and reinjecting them into the buttocks. After the procedure, the buttocks will look fuller and perkier. But the Brazilian butt lift is not a solution for patients who have excessive sagginess on buttocks with excess skin. Each time we are talking about a considerable excess of skin, the right procedure to be performed is a traditional butt lift. The butt lift involves removal of excess skin on the buttocks so it will have a firmer and perkier appearance. Because butt lift can’t be performed with a fat transfer, patients suffering from severe sagginess and small buttocks can opt to undergo the butt lift with butt implant surgery. This way, we can correct both imperfections at the same time in an efficient manner. The solutions to correct saggy buttocks – the Brazilian butt lift and the traditional lift – are both safe to use when there is a strong medical recommendaton for them and when performed by an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon. The procedures are usually performed with the use of general anesthesia for the comfort of the patient, and the hospitalization period is no longer than a few hours after the effects of the anesthesia have faded. The recovery period after the butt lift can be longer compared to the Brazilian butt lift because the procedure is more invasive. Keep in mind that when it comes to saggy buttocks, it is only the plastic surgeon that can recommend the suitable treatment plan after a proper medical examination that will take place during the pre-operative consultation. It is important to follow the recommendations of the plastic surgeon and also talk to him openly and honestly about your goals, medical history, and current lifestyle choices (such as smoking, for example).
