Thinning of butt tissue over time after silicone implants

21st Dec 2016

Butt augmentationThe popularity of buttock augmentation has seen a huge surge over the years, thanks to popular culture figures and celebrities with big and attractive behinds. When it comes to buttock augmentation, one of the popular enhancement procedures women opt for is buttock implants.

Buttock implant surgery involves the placement of a prosthesis in the buttocks through a surgical process with the goal of adding volume to the area. The implants can be in different shapes and boast different features. For example, they are found in both oval and round shapes, and they can be smooth or textured. Silicone buttock implants are a popular option. With these implants, buttocks are packed with solid silicone—a very stable material that is solid enough to withstand high pressure. Unlike other implants, silicone implants cannot easily break up, spill, or collapse.

All types of surgical procedures involve risks and complications, and silicone buttock implant surgery is not an exception. Thinning of the butt tissue over time is one of the most common problems patients experience. It is important to understand that thinning of the butt tissue can occur either due to aging or due to a very large silicone implant. Sometimes, both of these factors come into play at the same time, making your implant susceptible to extrusion.

The first symptom of butt tissue thinning is weakened and slack skin on one or both of your buttocks. In most cases, it has been found that large silicone implants trigger thinning of the butt tissue due to the constant pressure they exert on the surrounding areas in addition to the pressure exerted by the underlying fluids. When thinning of the butt tissue occurs on one of the buttocks, you’ll most likely see an exposed implant on the other buttock.

If you are diagnosed with thinning of the butt tissue in the first three years after getting silicone implants, the complication may have occurred not due to aging, but due to the implant itself.

The treatment options for thinning of butt tissue include removal of the implant. This is often followed by replacement of the implant. However, not all silicone implant patients who suffer butt tissue thinning may qualify for implant replacement; depending on a range of factors, replacement of the implant may not be a practical choice.

You may have heard that silicone implants last forever or for several decades. But the truth is that with silicone implants you may have to go for another operation so the implants can be taken out, probably due to thinning of the butt tissue.

It is also important to understand that when you go for implant removal after thinning of the butt tissue, your skin can become wobbly and the muscle can bounce out, which can leave your buttocks in very flawed shape. The good news is that it can be fixed, but only with another surgery.

Before you decide to get silicone buttock implants, it is very important to look at the different aspects of the procedure, including the potential risks and complications. Thinning of the butt tissue is one of the possible complications of silicone implants, and you should be aware of it.
