Treating saggy buttocks with fat transfer

08th Feb 2018

Saggy buttocks look aesthetically unwelcoming. As a result, they affect the self-esteem of women. Saggy buttocks make you look aged, less feminine, and less fertile. On the other hand, firmer, youthful, and perky buttocks look aesthetically pleasant and beautiful. For this reason, women desire to have firmer and toned buttocks. The bad news is that factors like aging, hormonal imbalances, genetics, and weight changes affect the buttocks, often causing them to become saggy.

When the buttocks become saggy, the patient experiences lower self-esteem. It can even affect the quality of life of the patient and keep her from engaging in her daily routine. There are different plastic surgery treatment options to correct saggy buttocks. One of the procedures that can treat loose buttocks is fat transfer.

Fat transfer to the buttocks is more popularly known as the Brazilian butt lift. While the primary goal is to add projection and shape to the buttocks, it can also effectively treat mildly saggy buttocks. In simple words, if your buttocks are mildly saggy, you may consider the fat transfer surgery. On the other hand, if your buttocks are moderately or severely saggy, you should go for other options like the traditional butt lift.

So, what does treating saggy buttocks with fat transfer surgery involve? Well, the procedure is carried out under general anesthesia or IV sedation. It starts with the extraction of fat from fat donor sites in your body. What this means is that if you have no excess fat in your body, you may not qualify for this surgery. The procedure uses your body fat to treat your saggy buttocks.

After administering the anesthesia, the plastic surgeon will perform liposuction on the different localized areas of the body to extract fat. The common fat donor areas include the abdomen, sides, flanks, etc. Liposuction involves tiny incisions on the fat donor areas. The surgeon will insert a hollow tube called a cannula in the fat donor sites and remove the excess fat through the incisions.

After removing fat from all the donor sites, the doctor will process and purify the fat by treating it in a centrifuge at high speed. During this step, the impurities and dead and damaged fat cells will be removed from the collected fat.

Next, the plastic surgeon will carefully inject the fat cells in your saggy buttocks. The doctor will make sure that the areas of the buttocks where the saggy and loose skin has developed are filled with fat under the skin. Injecting the fat in those areas will eliminate the gap between the skin and the underlying tissue. When the gap is filled, the buttocks become firmer and youthful.

However, the results of the surgery will not show immediately. Your body will take some weeks to vascularize the fat cells, after which the fat will expand and nurture over the next few weeks and months. The final results will become prominent after some months. You will notice that your buttocks have become firmer, perky, sensuous, and youthful. To sustain the results, you must avoid weight loss after the procedure.
